Farrier Class ~ Saturday, September 21; 10am - 3:30pm
This year we have received many calls and emails from Donkey Caretakers looking for Farrier Services in their area.
Due to this issue, on Saturday, September 21; 10am - 3:30pm, we will be offering a class for current Donkey Caretakers or Farriers to learn from Farrier Jim here at the Refuge. Jim has been trimming the Donkeys for over 10 years, and has many more years of experience as a horse farrier as well. If you can’t find a farrier in your area, we would strongly recommend that you attend the class and learn how to trim your Donkey’s hooves yourself.
We will cover handling, behavioural issues during trimming, how to balance and correct a damaged hoof, identifying and treating seedy toe and other common issues, as well as what tools you will need. This hands-on class will demonstrate good trimming technique and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about your own donkeys hoof issues.
